Serengeti Under Canvas is a luxurious semi-permanent tented camp that moves location in order to track the Great Migration throughout the year. Each location brings guests the best views of the large herds as they pass through the open plains of the Serengeti. Throughout the year, the camp moves between Ndutu, Grumeti, Seronera and Kogatende allowing guests the opportunity to be in a prime location for game viewing. What makes Serengeti Under Canvas Special?
The luxury mobile tented camp follows the vast herds as they migrate across the open plains. The camp is always near an airstrip in the Serengeti so is easily accessible by light aircraft from other areas in north Tanzania.
The Serengeti National Park covers approximately 15 000 km2 of grassland plains, savannah, riverine forest, and woodlands. It is situated in the northwest of Tanzania, bordering Kenya to the north and Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the southeast, Ikorongo to the west and Loliondo Game Control Area to the east. Together, these areas form what is known as the Serengeti ecosystem.
The Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most famous park and one of the most famous in the world. The Serengeti ecosystem is home to over a million wildebeest, 200 000 zebra, 400 000 Thompson gazelle, more than 2 700 lion, 1 000 leopard, 500 cheetah, huge herds of elephant, eland, impala, waterbuck, giraffe, ostrich and genet. The rivers within the park offer the perfect habitat for crocodiles and hippos; with more than 400 species of birds. The 15 000 km2 of the Serengeti National Park is the major portion of a larger ecosystem, which includes the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the Maasai Mara.
Staying at Serengeti Under Canvas has bought the glamour in ‘glamping’ to a whole new level. With 9 luxury tents at each private campsite, guests will indulge in complete comfort and luxury while still enjoying the authenticity of the African bush. Each luxury tent has en-suite facilities, bucket showers, flush toilets and a chandelier hanging above the large and extremely comfortable bed.
Each tent has its own private veranda for guests to enjoy viewing the wildlife from the comfort of their own room.

Every morning you are woken by your butler with hot tea or coffee and homemade biscuits preparing you for the morning game drive. Upon your return, you are welcomed with a hearty breakfast feast of hot and cold dishes. The afternoon is spent relaxing, watching and enjoying the passing wildlife with a glass of wine or nibbling on a snack. Afternoon tea is served before heading onto your afternoon game drive. Dinner is served under the stars allowing guests to experience the tranquillity of the bush while enjoying a delicious bush meal.
Between game drives, read a good book and enjoy a nice cold drink in the guest tent or simply watch the wonders of the bush from your tent’s veranda.
Game drives are tailored to suit your preference with a choice of a shorter game drive twice a day or one long game drive with a stop for a beautiful picnic lunch. The location of the camp has been carefully selected to follow the movements of the vast herds, so you shouldn’t have to travel too far to see the wonders of the Great Migration. The safari 4x4 vehicles are closed, with roll down canvas windows and pop-top roofs.
