The main Serengeti Migration Camp is hidden amongst an outcrop of kopjes (hillocks) in Northern Serengeti. The Serengeti is rich in game throughout the year and provides the stage for the world’s largest animal migration. The camp blends seamlessly into the environment and allows guests a wonderful opportunity to view the phenomenon of the Great Migration. However, the camp shifs its location within the Serengeti three times a year in order to follow the movement of the Great Migration, offering guests year-round access to this incredible spectacle.
Best time to catch the migration - all year round as the camp moves with migration.
What makes Serengeti Migration Camp Special?
Serengeti Migration Camp follows the Great Migration for the best encounters with thousands of wildebeest and zebra as they follow the rains within the open plains of the Serengeti. The camp has become synonymous with low-impact, high-action game viewing.
The Serengeti National Park covers approximately 15 000 km2 of grassland plains, savannah, riverine forest, and woodlands. It is situated in the northwest of Tanzania, bordering Kenya to the north and Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the southeast, Ikorongo to the west and Loliondo Game Control Area to the east. Together, these areas form what is known as the Serengeti ecosystem - home to over a million wildebeest, 200 000 zebra, 400 000 Thompson’s gazelle, more than 2 700 lion, 1 000 leopard, 500 cheetah, huge herds of elephant, eland, impala, waterbuck, giraffe, ostrich, genet and more than 400 species of birds.
Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most famous park and one of the most famous in the world, as it forms the major portion of the Serengeti ecosystem. The rivers within the park offer the perfect habitat for crocodiles and hippos.
Made from stone, wood, and canvas, the camp’s 20 luxurious elevated tents blend into the natural surroundings. Each tent is richly furnished in wood and leather, with an en-suite bathroom that has a separate shower and double vanity and a 360-degree private veranda. The main tent has a split-level lounge, a swimming pool, and a restaurant and viewing platforms that offer breathtaking views of the vast open plains and river.
Children of all ages are welcome.
Meals are carefully prepared for guests to experience in the dining area which offers incredible views of the river, with the choice of dining inside or outside. Sundowners and snacks are offered to end the day in the perfect way as the sun sets over the migration. Pre-dinner drinks can be enjoyed around the fire prior to dinner.
Morning and afternoon game drives are guided by knowledgeable and experienced guides. Guests have the amazing opportunity of seeing the spectacle of the migration as the viewing is focused on the migration and other species and predators within the area.
Guests can request to head out on a game drive with a packed lunch for a full-day safari giving you the opportunity to explore deeper into the park. Between game drives, experience the area by doing a guided walking safari or enjoy a relaxing afternoon by the swimming pool.
