Situated in the north of the reserve, Phinda Homestead is an exclusive private safari villa with generous courtyards and living areas that open up to the landscape beyond, blending seamlessly into the surrounding bush. Breathtakingly stylish and sophisticated, yet refreshingly simple, the Homestead provides the ideal venue to reconnect with friends and family and enjoy excellent Big Five game viewing.

This gracious, sole-use safari villa is a hideaway designed for comfort and ease with personal touches, blending laidback luxury with an invigorating wildlife adventure. Complete with a dedicated ranger/tracker team, private butler and chef, and its own open 4x4 safari vehicle, Phinda Homestead is ideal for a family celebration and special occasion safaris enjoyed at your own pace with a completely customisable schedule.

Phinda Private Game Reserve encompasses an impressive 23 000 hectares of protected wildlife land and has a strong focus on conservation and community involvement. The reserve is particularly well known for close-up sightings of the elegant, yet elusive cheetah, as well as the rare black rhino. Cheetah, lion and leopard are tracked on the reserve on a daily basis and guests have a high likelihood of encountering these magnificent animals.

With its seven distinct habitats, Phinda is often described as ‘Seven Worlds of Wonder’, a magnificent tapestry of woodland, grassland, wetland and forest, interspersed with mountain ranges, rivers, marshes and pans. It is much more than just another Big Five reserve.

With its sky and savanna theme, this exclusive and elegant lodge boasts four spacious suites, two of which include private outdoor showers. Celebrating the local heritage, traditional materials of thatch, gum-pole and stone tile are used throughout the lodge. Featuring large sliding panel windows with sweeping views of the surrounding bush, the emphasis is on outdoor spaces, with the expansive central living areas opening up directly onto the magnificent landscape. The outdoor sitting area is the heart of the Homestead and is the perfect place to spend leisure hours.

A focus on stylish comfort, coupled with genuine hospitality from your personal chef and butler, will have you feeling at home in this private villa. An interactive kitchen awaits your instructions, whether it’s the simple joy of having your favourite meals prepared for you or the delight of being surprised at meal times. Enjoy delicious communal meals shared around a spacious table or savour a delectable picnic on an extended game drive.

While away the afternoon drinking in the views from the open viewing decks, be pampered with an in-room massage, or give in to the seduction of plump cushions around the sparkling rim-flow swimming pool. If you're feeling more active, enjoy a workout in a state-of-the-art gym with an incredible view of the wilderness outside. As night closes in, admire the glorious colours of an African sunset as it steals over the skies.

Many of Phinda’s highly trained professional rangers and trackers belong to the surrounding Zulu communities and can share cultural insights in addition to their incomparable wealth of wildlife knowledge.

Tailor made adventures are the order of the day at Phinda Homestead. With a dedicated game ranger and tracker, as well as a private open 4x4 game drive vehicle, you set your own game drive times. Interpretive game drives ensure excellent Big Five game viewing, with spectacular sightings of the elusive cheetah, the rare black rhino and the abundant wildlife and birdlife. Evening game drives last until after dark, when spotlights are used for a glimpse into the nocturnal bush life. Listen to lions roar in the dark or admire the small nocturnal animals.

If you prefer, you could go on a boat cruise down the Mzinene River, watching the wildlife as they come down to drink.

Enjoy bush walks (not for children under 16) accompanied by your ranger, who will share his insight into the smaller animals, insects and vegetation in the area.
