The award-winning Private Granite Suites are positioned in ultimate seclusion along the famous Sand River on a reserve that is internationally recognised for its progressive land management, wildlife rehabilitation, and productive community involvement. The Varty and Taylor families are conservation dynasties who have dedicated their lives to saving a small part of Africa’s Eden. ‘Londolozi represents a model of the dream I cherish for the future of nature preservation in our country’ – Nelson Mandela.
The Private Granite Suites offer ‘a private river affair’, an extraordinary experience for the intimate use of six guests. This luxury safari lodge is for the discerning traveller who appreciates the finer details of an African safari. Children under the age of 16 are only accommodated if guests book the camp exclusively. World renowned as one of Africa’s finest game lodges, Londolozi was the first game reserve in the world to be accorded Relais & Châteaux status, reinforcing its commitment to luxurious accommodation, fine cuisine and exceptional service.
Londolozi Private Game Reserve is a wildlife paradise situated on the Sand River in the heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which shares a 50km unfenced border with the Kruger National Park and is renowned for providing some of the best game viewing in Africa. The reserve has a dense concentration of wildlife, including over 330 plant species, 45 fish species, 30 amphibian species, 110 reptile species, 500 bird species and 145 mammal species! It is home to the Big 5 and is probably the best place in the world to get up close and personal with the elusive leopard. Extensive flora and fauna lists are available.
Bold, inspiring materials mirror the extrusion of granite rocks that flank the camp, while conveying the raw essence of Africa. From each room of the expansive suites, the views stretch across the river and onto the grasslands to the north. Featuring a glass-encased en-suite bathroom, an outdoor shower, a private heated swimming pool and, quite extraordinarily, a private river-view bath on the deck, this is the ultimate bush sanctuary. With the emphasis on space, light and privacy, a seamless integration with nature is achieved with large doors and windows all opening directly onto the Sand River. The Private Granite Suites can be booked individually or as a private camp for six guests.
At Londolozi, superb cuisine is considered an essential part of the experience, with recipes handed down through the Varty family or created in the Londolozi kitchen. Much of the day revolves around specifically crafted culinary delights – morning morsels on the game drive, a fortifying breakfast, lunch and indulgent high tea before the next game drive and its sundowner treats and lastly, the grand finale, a traditional fireside banquet or a private dinner.
Londolozi Life, the wellness centre, is unique in drawing inspiration from ancient healing methods and marrying the philosophies of East and West within an African context. Yoga and massage as well as running, cycling and rowing machines in the fitness room overlooking an expansive swimming pool, are complemented by a relaxed daily routine of eating well and existing in harmony with nature.
Londolozi Living bush boutique is a veritable Aladdin’s cave of all things gorgeous from Africa, and offers a selection of genuine artefacts from artists and indigenous tribes both local and from across the continent.
Londolozi offers spectacular Big 5 game drives with unsurpassed leopard viewing, but this is just one element of your ‘Londolozi experience’. Dining, relaxation, and the Londolozi commitment to going beyond expectations, rounds off this bush experience. Every visit is tailor-made to suit individual preferences and expectations. Seasonal schedules, however, offer a certain rhythm and pace to the experience that stirs a sense of homecoming on repeat visits.
Morning and afternoon game drives are led by professional rangers and trackers, who between them have a wealth of 350 years of experience, allowing them to wow you with their knowledge, move you with their stories, and bring you one step closer to nature. With over 16 000 hectares of traversing wilderness, no two game drives are ever the same.
Join the Shangaan master trackers and discover the age-old practice of animal tracking in the bush.
Guided all day bush walks in the company of a ranger are encouraged at Londolozi as a means of truly engaging in the natural environment.
The Reserve’s river systems offer wonderful fishing. Bream, catfish, tilapia and occasionally tigerfish are caught.
